Slip Resistant Floor - Heskins Slip Resistant Flooring

To create an effective slip resistant floor you need a covering that will provide round-the-clock slip prevention in even the most hostile conditions. Unlike those supposedly magical coatings that will not provide independent coefficient of friction data to ensure that you meet your obligations Heskins provides certificates for all the slip resistant floor range that we manufacture. Our testing results have been produced by external laboratories which include: UK Health & Safety Executive (HSE), CERAM and various universities.

The first choice when choosing a slip resistant floor is to decide whether you want an abrasive or non-abrasive surface, Heskins produces a wide range of both, below is a brief summary to help you make the choice suitable for your application.

Abrasives

Abrasive products have always possessed far higher levels of coefficient of friction, the sharp fractured angles of the grit (we normally use aluminium oxide but for certain products S2 and silicon carbide are utilised) create a very safe surface. The peaks and valleys created by the grits allow contaminants such as mud, water and snow to more readily dissipate. Generally abrasive materials can endure more use due to the minerals taking most of the punishment.

Non-Abrasive

Non-abrasive non slip tapes are no longer the weaker alternative to an abrasive slip resistant floor, they have many advantages. Heskins has invested significant resources to try and attain similar coefficient of friction ratings. Our resilient and coarse resilient range achieve extremely high CoF ratings, far in excess of regulatory requirements for a slip resistant floor in both wet and dry. A non-abrasive material can offer the following advantages:

• Easier to clean
• Can be used in food areas as there are no hidden cavities where bacteria can harbour
• Is kinder to skin
• Will not abrade surrounding materials
• Can offer a cushioning effect

All slip resistant floor colours are possible, our standard stock range includes the majority of base colours, dependent on volume any Pantone or RAL reference can be produced.
