Heskins Ltd is 25

This year, on the 14th of April, we celebrated an important landmark in our journey. Heskins Ltd celebrated its Silver Jubilee, marking 25 illustrious years of serving our customers and making a mark in the world of safety tape production. This blog post pays tribute to our journey from a small business established in a back bedroom to a global leader in the industry. We are filled with a sense of achievement and gratitude, as we recount our timeline that encapsulates 25 years of innovation, growth and accomplishment.

April 1997

Established in a back bedroom in a rented house in Charnock Richard, we used a company that no longer exists in Manchester to subcontract manufacture for us.

1998

The company subcontract manufacturer closed, we purchased machinery from them. Storage and production was in an old stables that was demolished many years ago to form a restaurant in Chorley. Our website was launched, we are proud of being a pioneer of using the web.

1999

ISO9000 registration, we always took quality seriously.

2000

Our first true warehouse.

2003

Purchased part of our existing industrial estate location.

2009

Heskins LLC (USA) opened.

2014

Heskins LLC (USA) expanded to its present large facility.

2015

Heskins UK purchase the entirety reast of the industrial estate to facilitate more production, storage and office space.

2018

Major investment at Heskins USA for production machinery.

2019

Our Devon UK factory opened; large scale fully-automated plastic film production facility with adhesive coating.

2020

New warehousing built on our UK location.

2021

Heskins BV opened in Netherlands.

2022?

We are looking to open Heskins in Poland providing us even better market access.

Back in April 1997, when our journey began in Charnock Richard, we partnered with a subcontract manufacturer in Manchester. This was a time of humble beginnings, driven by grit, determination and a passion to create the best safety tapes in the market. You might be wondering, what happened next? Let’s unravel the journey.

In 1998, in a twist of fate, our subcontractor ceased operations. However, we viewed this as an opportunity and acquired their machinery, taking the first step towards independent production. Our operations were conducted from an old stable, a structure long demolished now to make way for a restaurant in Chorley. This year also marked our foray into the digital world, as we launched our website, embracing technology early on.

What about our focus on quality, you ask? In 1999, we acquired the ISO9000 registration, reflecting our unwavering commitment to maintaining high quality standards. Fast forward to the year 2000, our growth led us to move to our first proper warehouse, a significant milestone in our journey.

The year 2003 brought in another major achievement. We acquired part of our present-day industrial estate, indicating our steady growth and expansion. How about our international journey, you might wonder?

Well, in 2009, we spread our wings beyond the UK, establishing Heskins LLC in the USA. The USA operations further expanded in 2014, moving to a larger facility to cater to the growing demand.

In 2015, we made another major investment back home. Heskins UK purchased the rest of the industrial estate to facilitate more production, storage and office space. This investment showcased our continuous commitment to enhance our capacities and serve our customers better.

2018 marked a pivotal year for our USA operations, with a major investment in production machinery. Following this, in 2019, we opened a large scale fully-automated plastic film production facility with adhesive coating in Devon, UK.

Our commitment to growth continued in 2020, with the construction of new warehousing at our UK location. How about our presence in Europe, you may ask? In 2021, Heskins BV was established in the Netherlands, strengthening our foothold in the European market.

So, what’s next for us? We are eyeing Poland! We hope to extend our operations and open Heskins in Poland soon, which will give us even better access to the European market.

To wrap it up, we are proud of our journey so far and look forward to many more years of growth and success. The past 25 years have seen us emerge from humble beginnings to become a leader in safety tape production with a worldwide presence. This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of our loyal customers and the dedication of our hardworking staff. So, here’s to the next 25 years and beyond!
