Heskins UK -How to Apply Anti-Slip Tape to External Porous Surface
Heskins Videos
At Heskins, we understand that applying anything onto porous surfaces can be tricky as they aren’t always even often having different textures. Many factors come into play when applying our anti-slip tape. Luckily, we have created this guide to help you apply floor tape to these surfaces most efficiently.
Here is a List of Equipment You Will Need Before Beginning:
- Floor Tape
- IPA Cleaner
- Cloth
- Gloves
- Tape Measure
- Scissors
- Surface Primer + Brush
- Seam Roller
- Edge Sealant
Please ensure you have all equipment to hand to avoid difficulties in the application process.
Step 1 – Use IPA Surface Cleaner to Clean Application Area
The first step is an important one put your gloves on! Then grab your H3508 IPA surface cleaner and your cloth and wipe down the surface thoroughly. This step increases the life of the anti-slip tape and secures a good surface to grip too.
Step 2 – Measure Out the Tape and Application Area
For the second step, you need to get your measuring tape and determine how much anti-slip tape you will need to cover the porous surface, guaranteeing accurate results.
Step 3 – Cut the Tape to Length
Get your scissors and use your measurement to cut the anti-slip tape precisely. An important step as you don’t want to waste any product!
Step 4 – Apply Surface Primer to the Porous Surface
Applying surface primer, you want to brush a generous amount onto the surface where you plan on applying the floor tape. H3506 Surface Primer ensures the adhesive will work effectively, not affected by any dirt or water that could potentially deteriorate the adhesive layer.
Step 5 – Expose the Adhesive Backing by Removing the Tape’s Liner
Peel off the adhesive film’s protective layer on the back of the tape and begin to place the tape down on the surface.
Step 6 – Remove Air Bubbles with a Pressure Roller
This step helps remove air bubbles and ensures the tape is applied securely. To do this, you need the seam roller, roll it up and down the tape applying even pressure.
Step 7 – Use a Thin Amount of Edge Sealant
Once everything is applied and done correctly, use H3502 edge sealant and place a solid line of edge sealant down each edge of the tape as displayed in the image. This compound ensures the floor tape is fully secured and prevents dirt or water from seeping under.
